With the opening of the landmark Fairmont San Francisco in 1907, the Fairmont brand was born. As the collection of elegant hotels and resorts grew, guests began to associate the Fairmont name with unrivalled properties, authentically local experiences and warm, memorable service.
Fairmont hotels and resorts have hosted the rich and famous, kings and queens, presidents and prime ministers, and stars of the stage and screen.

From its roots as a smaller hotel group that joined forces with Canadian Pacific Hotels in 1999, Fairmont has grown into a leading global hospitality brand.
Chris Cahill, President, said: “We continue to be committed to growth, expanding our brand presence globally with a number of exciting hotel and mixed-use projects planned for the next few years. With over a century of hospitality excellence to build on, we look forward to creating unforgettable experiences for years to come.”
The Fairmont chain has 64 hotels worldwide spanning across Canada, the USA, the UK, Switzerland, Germany, Monaco, Egypt, Kenya, UAE, Mexico, Barbados, Bermuda, Singapore, South Africa, Saudi Arabia and China.

“We’ve had a number of very high profile and iconic hotels open within the last six to eight months,” Cahill said.
“Paying homage to its original Edwardian and Art Deco design, The Savoy is once again London’s premier social destination following a £220 million restoration.
“The Peace Hotel, a Shanghai landmark since the 1930s, has been fully restored and reopened this past July as the Fairmont Peace Hotel. Situated on the Bund, the 11-story property enjoys a premier downtown location, facing the Pudong area over the Hangpu River and has hosted guests from Charlie Chaplin to General Marshall.

“Last, but certainly not least, is the Makkah Clock Royal Tower, which opened late last year and is a landmark project for the Fairmont brand in Saudi Arabia and one that will cater to luxury travellers in the Middle East.”
In 2011 Fairmont is entering India and also Baku in Azerbaijan. Fairmont Jaipur will offer 248 guestrooms and a number of other luxurious amenities including a 10,000sq ft Willow Stream spa.
