Celebrating its 20th anniversary, Como Hotels and Resorts has a portfolio of prestigious properties around the world. Tom Orchard, Regional General Manager, gives us a guided tour of the COMO offer
COMO Hotels and Resorts, founded by visionary entrepreneur, Christina Ong, is known for its handpicked, intimate, and individually curated properties.
The prestigious portfolio spans some of the world's most idyllic locations, including Parrot Cay in the Turks and Caicos, COMO Shambhala Estate in Bali, The Halkin in London, Metropolitan in London and Bangkok, Cocoa Island in the Maldives, Uma Ubud in Bali, and Uma Paro in Bhutan.

Dedicated wellness retreat, the COMO Shambhala Estate, Bali, opened in 2005 as the flagship to sister brand, COMO Shambhala an award-winning holistic spa and lifestyle concept. The estate offers tailor-made wellness programs using the world's top experts in yoga, nutrition and exercise.
Tom Orchard, Regional General Manager for the London properties, said: "Our owner has been a pioneer in the industry since The Halkin first opened its doors in 1991.

"This year marks a 20th anniversary celebrating the journey of COMO. During this time, her unique vision has led to ground-breaking openings; The Halkin was the first design-led boutique hotel in Europe, the Metropolitan London was the first hotel to open in London with a destination restaurant and bar under one roof. When Parrot Cay opened in the Turks & Caicos, it was the first resort in the Caribbean to be known for its exceptional cuisine and Asian-inspired service. The list goes on.
"We continue to anticipate our guest's requirements and exceed their expectations - this is one of the main reasons why our properties receive so many awards and accolades each year."
Speaking about the hotels and resorts within the portfolio which stand out, Orchard said: "All of the hotels are equally important to our profile. The Halkin is the affirmed favourite with CEO's and entrepreneurs travelling into London – it has an extraordinarily high level of repeat custom. Where as Cocoa Island, which was awarded 'World's Best Resort' by the Sunday Times Travel Magazine Readers, is hugely important to our leisure business."

By the end of the year COMO will be opening Uma Punahka in Bhutan which will have 11 guest rooms and enable guests of COMO to explore more of the kingdom.
And early in 2012, the company is planning to launch a new property - Yamu in Phuket. The resort will offer a 100m pool, a COMO Shambhala spa with its award-winning treatments, two restaurants and a private beach.
