FITOUT REVIEW

ERI Ltd
November 2009

In the four months since RLI last spoke to the company, ERI has gone from strength to strength, continuing to work tirelessly to maintain excellent long-standing relationships whilst increasing its client portfolio and delivering high-quality, practical and cost-effective solutions.

“Our existing customers have continued to invest in the maintenance of their store equipment although there has been a significant downturn in the number of new stores acquired during 2009,” says ERI Director of Business Development, Claire Hutchinson. “That said, there are a number of retailers that understand the necessity to continue to invest in their stores to ensure they maintain brand integrity, quality, service and above all, customer satisfaction.”

It is the group’s competitiveness in terms of price point that gives it the edge, she says. “We have an extensive list of long-term clients within our portfolio which includes Primark, the Post Office, Marks & Spencer, Arcadia Group, Aurora Fashions, Signet Group and Morrisons, all of which we have continued to achieve, both current and new contracts, through competitive tender, which speaks volumes.”

Over the past four years, ERI has enjoyed consistent growth in its customer portfolio.
Having sustained close working relationships with a number of the leading UK high street retailers, the company has continued to deliver high quality roll-outs, with projects scheduled for the remainder of 2009 and secured for 2010.

As well as its ongoing projects, ERI has also recently secured its place as a nominated supplier to one of the UK’s most prestigious department stores, having successfully delivered the first of what it hopes will be many more projects throughout 2010.

“Over the past few months, the ERI team has been finalising the acquisition of an account for one of the UK’s leading supermarket chains, concluding a year-long process of tendering and prototype roll-out,” says Claire.

ERI has also undertaken work with Dorothy Perkins on its programme of store improvements and continues its relationship as a supplier to the Morrisons supermarket chain.

ERI was appointed in early 2009 as lead shopfitter for the Marks & Spencer Liverpool redevelopment project. The project was successfully delivered with an impressive zero defects completion in October. The brief was to work in conjunction with the main contractor, providing equipment manufacture, project management and contractual
installation throughout the 28-week program.

“At its peak, we had 20 site operatives working in both on- and off-site locations. At our off-site staging facility we collated, phased, picked and packed, quality-checked and assembled equipment from factory stock held at our premises in Birmingham. Additionally, we managed the coordination of the M&S-approved suppliers and subsequently delivered to the store,” explained Claire.

It was integral to the program that the store continued to trade throughout the project. The redevelopment and extension project required the highest levels of management to ensure delivery on time and within budget for what was an extremely complex project.

ERI was responsible for the manufacture and installation of the perimeter system to the entire store over three floors, including elevator and movement areas; the installation of column casings, fitting room complexes, the foodhall archway and elevator panelling.

It also manufactured and installed a Bureau de Change and CSD Area; tills, queue merchandisers and Till Backdrops; Home Tech department and Home Hub, whilst installing the acrylic walls, window beds and ceiling grids, and loose equipment.
ERI also undertook the removal of redundant fixtures and some elevations of panelling, manufactured the site specifics and profiled the necessary equipment.

“The only area we did not supply was the food hall and café revive. That said, we are currently in the development stage for the manufacture and installation of the ‘Food to Go’ business unit,” says Claire.

Interestingly, ERI also undertook the design and development of the new toilet suites; the process was instructed from concept design through to development, which incorporated the prototype and installation in preparation for the launch of a new store model for projects due to be delivered in 2010.
