Here, RLI speaks with CEO Perry Oosting to discuss the heritage of the brand and the new retail concept that is being installed.

The origins of Clergerie can be traced to a small shoe factory located in Romans, which became home to illustrious brands Unic, J.Fenestrier and later, Robert Clergerie. Over 120 years of heritage and French craftsmanship have helped shape the Clergerie brand, and along the way many new innovations have been seen, 1905 saw the introduction of the technique of sewn Goodyear in France, 1944 was the introduction of raffia during the Second World War, 1945 saw the Articulated Wood Block Installation come along, 1985 saw the Ridgeway Insole Established, while in 1994 the Architectural Metal Heel Design allowed the creative team to continue to create iconic and timeless designs. Today the company has expanded outside of its roots in France to operate several of its own retail stores in Europe and the US. Two are currently in the US with one in Los Angeles; the second is a very recent opening on Madison Avenue in New York. Five stores are situated in Paris, two free-standing stores and three are shop-in-shops in major department stores such as Bon Marche and Printemps. Along with this Clergerie operates three outlet stores and has around 250 wholesale points around the world in Europe, US, the Middle East and Asia.
