Rudy’s Pizza Napoletana has announced it will fire up the pizza oven and open the doors to its new Cambridge pizzeria on Saturday 1st November 2025 from 12pm – and to celebrate, local foodies can claim one of 3,000 free pizzas.
Located in the heart of Cambridge’s bustling city centre, the new pizzeria will breathe new life into the former TSB building on St Andrews Street. Spanning 2,100 sq ft across two floors with space for up to 200 guests, it’s set to become the perfect spot to dine in and warm up as temperatures drop.
The opening marks Rudy’s first site in Cambridge and its 35th restaurant to date. Since opening its first pizzeria in Manchester’s Ancoats in 2015, Rudy’s has grown into one of the UK’s most loved pizzerias, known for its light, double-fermented dough and dedication to true Neapolitan craft.
Testament to its authenticity, Rudy’s is the largest organisation in the world to be accredited by the Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana (AVPN), the international body that protects and promotes traditional Neapolitan pizza making.
In 2024, Rudy’s was also recognised among the World’s 50 Best Pizzerias, ranking 27th globally. Each pizza, from the classic Margherita to the fiery Calabrese, is made to AVPN standards using traditional techniques and ingredients sourced directly from Italy.
Commenting on the new opening, Neal Bates of Rudy’s, said: “Cambridge is the perfect next stop for Rudy’s as one of the UK’s most beautiful cities and home to a vibrant student community – and we can’t wait to open our doors. Whether you’re discovering us for the first time or returning for another taste, we’re excited to fire up the oven and say a big ciao to the city.”
Rudy’s dough is made fresh daily using Caputo ‘00’ flour which ferments for at least 24 hours, alongside the best quality ingredients from Naples, including San Marzano tomatoes grown on fields next to Mount Vesuvius, and fior di latte mozzarella.
In accordance with authentic Neapolitan techniques, the dough is cooked in a Stefano Ferrara oven for around 60 seconds – resulting in a soft and light pizza with an airy and raised cornicione (the edge or rim of the pizza).
Rudy’s also pays homage to some of the world’s most renowned pizzerias and pizzaiolis around the world through its collaborative limited-edition rotating specials, offering guests exciting new flavour combinations while staying true to their authentic Neapolitan roots.
Recent specials have included Diego’s Diavola, created in collaboration with Diego Vitagliano, the world-renowned Neapolitan pizzaiolo named Best in the World 2023 by 50 Top Pizza. The partnership reflects Rudy’s continued commitment to celebrating authentic Neapolitan craft and collaborating with the very best in the global pizza community.
