Amazon is adding a new logistics centre in Spain. By the beginning of Autumn the new warehouse will start operating, allowing the marketplace to stock more goods and fulfill the increased demand. It’s anticipated to create over five hundred new permanent jobs in addition to the 7,000 workers the company have currently hired in Spain.
The US multinational company is currently expanding its logistics network in Spain with this new warehouse after recently inaugurating another automated one in Dos Hermanas, Sevilla. The Amazon’s logistic network in Spain started with the construccion of a centre in San Fernando de Henares, Madrid, that started operating in 2012. In the last seven years, the company has opened 3 more warehouses based in Barcelona (El Prat, MArtorelles and Castellbisbal), one in Ilescas (Toledo), and more recently, the Sevilla one.
The installation will have a BREEAM certification of low energy usage and low carbon dioxid emissions. It will also include LED illumination and heating and energy recovery systems integrated in the air conditioning installation as long as an energy saving scheme for the building.
