The new aquarium features 30,000 animals across nine zones, including Asian small-clawed otters, green sea turtles, sand tiger sharks and Humboldt penguins.
Located in South Korea’s Gyeonggi Province, the opening of the Hanwha Aqua Planet Gwanggyo marks the completion of the Suwon MICE Complex which is also home to the Suwon Convention Center, the Courtyard by Marriot Suwon hotel and the Galleria Gwanggyo department store.
The new aquarium is home to as many as 30,000 animals and will also feature a number of shows and interactive experiences including the Jellyfish Lab, the Ecological Experience with Otters, Penguin Village, Crab Island and the Aqua Magic Show.
A spokesperson commented: “We anticipate Aqua Planet Gwanggyo will help establish the Suwon Convention Centre as a representative attraction and MICE complex of the souther Gyeonggi region.”
This is the fifth location from Aqua Planet which is a chain of public aquariums in South Korea. Other locations that feature an Aqua Planet include Ilsan, Yeosu, Jeju and Seoul.
