The Japanese coffee chain has continued its expansion plan with the launch of its first-ever site in South Korea.

The store is positioned at Starfield Library which is one of the most famous destinations in Seoul’s Gangnam district and the idea of the store is to encourage patrons to relax with books and coffee.

Following the brand’s trademark simple and clean approach, the store is the 125th location for the company across the world and follows soon after the launch of its Taiwan store last month.

According to Statista, there are some 76,150 coffee shops in South Korea. Coffee sales in the country reached around $2.3bn last year, representing a steady increase since 2008.
