The Japanese coffee chain %Arabica has made its US debut with a unit opening in Dumbo, New York.
Overlooking the Brooklyn Bridge and Lower Manhattan, the store was designed by French studio, Cigue, who is behind designs of Aesop stores in France and the UK.
“When our founder Kenneth opened our global flagship store in Kyoto in 2014, he had an ultimate goal to open stores in Paris and New York,” the company said in a statement. “Kenneth is a huge fan of Cigue, and he chose to work with them for the US flagship store, a super important project for him.”
To match the neighbourhood’s signature building exteriors, %Arabica Dumbo Roastery was designed with orange bricks inside the store. A long tube lamp is hung over the counter and Chemex hanging lamps are installed over the stool counter seats.
The company’s first store in the US is home to a 22kg Probat roasting machine and a 1kg Tornano King roasting machine. Besides its trademark coffee, %Arabica Dumbo also offers customers a custom roasting service which allows guests to select beans and roasting types.
