mated in every colour as over 1.5 million lights blink and flash
in time with the music.
Meanwhile in Idaho, a sparkling display extends from the
shores of Lake Coeur d’Alene out onto the water where
a giant floating Christmas tree and Santa’s workshop are
visible during the “Journey to the North Pole” cruise. Over a
million and a half lights are on display at this Coeur d’Alene
Resort spectacle.
In New York City every night from 19 November until 6
January, an awe inspiring light show is presented to the public
on the façade of famed Saks Fifth Avenue department store
in the heart of the city. The 2018 Saks Holiday Light show
was reimagined into a spectacular theatrical masterpiece.
Evoking the glamour of a Broadway “must see” production,
this year’s show includes a new song, new programming, and
over 8,200 additional colour changing marquee lights orches-
trated to transform the façade of the iconic Fifth Avenue
Flagship store into a magical holiday spectacle. Among the
most beloved holiday displays in New York, this cutting-edge
sound and light show enchants millions of viewers in person
and garners countless hits on social media.
A project by MK Illuimination was La Mer in Dubai, which
offered laidback fun at Dubai’s eclectic beachfront and over
the holy month of Ramadan, they decided to add a festive
atmosphere to their outdoor spaces with a combination of
hanging strings of lights, custom-designed motifs that related
to Ramadan, and carefully-placed large-scale decorative items,
like crescents, decorated with gold and silver finishes and filled
with LED light points.
Already a wonderland, Tivoli Gardens, the famous
amusement park in central Copenhagen, takes the magic
up a notch with its annual holiday lights display that runs
from 18 November through 31 December. There are many
different activities to enjoy here while viewing the lights,
including a twilight train ride around the park and a visit to Santa’s
living room. The Tivoli Christmas Light Show takes place in the
Chinese area of the park, where over 16,000 lights twinkle to
traditional Christmas songs like “Jingle Bells.”
With the right designers and the right location, festive
lighting can be the difference between a mediocre Christmas
season and a record breaking one, retailers take note in time
for Christmas 2019!
