The robotic arm will be trialled at Wimpy’s flagship Dubai Mall outlet before being rolled out across the Americana Restaurants chain.
Flippy the robot is being trialed in Dubai by Americana Restaurants, the operator of well-known brands such as KFC, Pizza Hut and Hardee’s.
The robotic arm, popular in the US fast-food chain industry, will make its debut at Wimpy’s flagship Dubai Mall restaurant once it is operational, with “further integration and expansion planned across other Americana Restaurants locations in the months ahead”.
Officially known as Flippy 2, it is a customisable robot that can automate a range of cooking tasks in fast-food restaurants. Using a range of AI-driven platforms, robotics, machine learning and AI vision, Flippy 2 can work independently and optimise operations in quick-service kitchens.
Mike Bell, CEO of Miso Robotics, said: “In the past year, we’ve announced partnerships with some of the largest brands in the US and that momentum has led to us being pulled internationally to introduce our technology on a global scale. The agreement builds on Americana Restaurant’s commitment to “put technology at the heart of the business.”
