Knight Frank has secured a new London flagship store for Japanese fashion designer Yohji Yamamoto at 52 Conduit Street, W1, in the latest sign of a rebound in demand for space in London’s premier retail locations.
The fashion designer has agreed a 10-year lease for a 3,500sq ft unit in a prominent location on the corner of Saville Row and Conduit Street in Mayfair, close to units occupied by MCM, Vivienne Westwood, Hauser & Wirth and John Varvatos. Yohji Yamamoto, which is well-known for its genderless and unisex brand ‘Ground Y’ will pay a rent of £420 Zone A for the corner space. Knight Frank acted for the property owner, a HK-based private investor.
Josh Braid, Partner, Co-Head of Central London Retail at Knight Frank, said: “After a competitive global marketing campaign we are very pleased to secure world-renowned fashion designer Yohji Yamamoto for this prominent unit in the heart of Mayfair. The letting underlines the resurgence of London’s prime retail streets, with increased competition from global brands looking for space to showcase their designs in the West End.”
