On the 11th of March, Lidl opened its second supermarket in Pula, Croatia. The unit was built according to the company’s latest store design that includes larger retail areas, more natural lighting, wider aisles, longer checkouts and energy efficient technologies.
Schwartz Gruppe has been operating on the Croatian market since 2006 and today has a network of 97 Lidl supermarkets in all major cities across the country. The company also operates two logistics centers in Croatia and employs more than 2,300 people. The German discounter entered the Serbian market in October 2018, opening its first 16 stores in the country. Its stores in Serbia have an average size of 1,400 sqm and offer 120 parking spaces.
In June last year, Lidl opened its new logistics center in the Serbian town Nova Pazova. The 45,000 facility is one of its largest sites in South East Europe and an investment of 55 million EUR. According to its representatives, Lidl aims to continue its investments in Serbia in the coming years, introducing new innovations, modern concepts and services such as online shopping.
