The Colombian luxury department store chains currently operates nine stores in the country but have announced this will be expanded to 12 by end of year.
One of the highlights of its expansion strategy is the opening of a specialised shoe shop, located in Zone 85 in Bogotá, which will showcase a wide range of footwear with a unique shopping experience (shoe bags, charms, lace customisation and specialised advice). Additionally, other new locations are planned for the Fontanar and Colina shopping centres, as well as a three-storey flagship store on 109th Street in Bogotá.
Outside of Colombia, Malva has emphasised its regional growth. Its plans include further openings in Panama and Peru, in addition to consolidating its footprint in cities such as Medellín, Cali, Cartagena and Bucaramanga. In Cartagena, for example, it recently opened a space called Casa Malva, located in the historic centre, which combines fashion, art and exclusive collections as part of an immersive experience.
In terms of figures, Malva expects to generate revenues of around 117 billion pesos by the end of the year. Furthermore, its expansion strategy will generate more than 150 jobs in Colombia with the new openings. It also emphasises its commitment to local talent: nearly 60 per cent of the brands it currently manages are Colombian, while the remaining 40 per cent come from international firms.
