Bali’s award-winning 25-key hotel in hidden-away Kedungu, Nirjhara, has announced the highly anticipated launch of its Phase Two expansions.
Opening in stages from summer next year, the developments will introduce a collection of seven design-led villas, a new signature Indonesian restaurant, an adult’s only pool and a new spa spotlighting Ayurvedic offerings – each blending contemporary design with deep respect for Balinese tradition and nature.
Paris-born Dimitri Tran and Adrien Portier are the visionary minds behind the hotel. United by a shared passion for purposeful travel, the duo embody a new generation of hoteliers – creators of immersive, design-led experiences that honour local culture, champion sustainability and redefine what modern luxury can look like.
As Dimitri and Adrien explain – “The vision for this next phase has been with us since before Nirjhara first opened. We’re excited to create something that enhances the resort while remaining deeply rooted in its spirit – an evolution that belongs as much to the landscape and community as to us. Kedungu itself has changed in recent years and we’re glad that Nirjhara can grow alongside it.”
In Q3 2026, Nirjhara will unveil seven one-bedroom villas, located on the resort’s eastern side, curated by Design by Weld and ZXC Studio with interiors by French designer Natacha Tanguy, who also conceived the interiors of Nirjhara’s sister sailing yacht, Vela. These standalone villas are inspired by their forested surroundings, with cascading greenery, tiered planter boxes filled with native plants such as lemongrass, Chinese evergreens and peace lilies and expansive floor-to-ceiling windows that blur the boundary between indoors and outdoors.
Each villa offers 66sq m of comforting interiors, complemented by an expansive deck, a seven-metre private infinity pool and lush tropical gardens complete with hammocks and al fresco dining areas. Built from sustainably sourced Indonesian materials and crafted by local artisans, the villas embody Nirjhara’s philosophy of contemporary design infused with a sense of place.
