Chinese collectible toy retailer Pop Mart is ramping up its international expansion plan with the first store launched in the Netherlands.

Located in Leidschendam’s Wetstfield Mall, the launch comes after the Chinese retailer made its debut in the UK last year in Shaftesbury Avenue. The Netherlands location is considered a slow but steady step for Pop Mart in the Europe market.

Pop Mart today has more than 350 physical locations in 23 countries, as well as 2000 Roboshops, its own brand of cashless vending machines where customers can splurge on so-called blind boxes, a type of collectible similar to baseball trading cards from yesteryear.

Pop Mart only recently launched its first physical store in the US, following a temporary 2148sqft pop-up store within the opulent Californian shopping centre South Coast Plaza last year.

The retailer also signed a strategic agreement with Minor International Group to launch its first presence in Thailand in August.
