The brand, which is fully owned by LVMH, has opened a new 75sq m store in New York’s SoHo in a ground floor unit of a red brick building dating back to 1900.
The interior design of the compact premises was envisioned by two architecture practices, namely MA-MA and Mass Studio. The heart of the space is a 12.5ft long multi-functional display table. Divided into two pivoting supported corian stone elements, the table is able to regulate the direction and flow of circulation throughout the space, giving the store an adaptable and transformable quality over time.
The main wall shelving on both sides of the display table features flexible designs as the horizontal shelves are moveable, allowing for a variety of different shelving display patterns. The flooring, which is dark terrazzo offers a stark contrast to the well-lit metal and plexiglass elements that are features throughout the store.
For a unique and experiential element, the RIMOWA Passport Studio which is a custom-designed passport photo booth, is situated at the back of the store. Physical passport photos are printed on the spot and can be shared as both digital versions for safe-keeping or reprinting.
