One of the UK’s largest sports retailers, Sports Direct, has entered the Philippines through a partnership with sports and lifestyle retailer Map Active.

The first store has opened at Ayala Malls Manila Bay and offers a wide range of sports apparel, footwear, equipment and accessories across categories including football, running, training, outdoor, swimming and racket sports such as badminton, pickleball and tennis.

The store will carry in-house brands, including Karrimor, Everlast, Lonsdale, Slazenger and USA Pro, alongside global labels such as Nike, Adidas, Skechers, New Balance, Converse, Lotto, Diadora, Airwalk, Ellesse, Speedo, Wilson and Yonex.

Bea Madrid, Head of Marketing at Map Active Philippines, said Ayala Malls Manila Bay was a strategic location for the brand’s local debut. “We always feel their support and when we launch something, we’re happy to work with them to secure such a strong location to serve the market in the best way possible,” she said.

Sports Direct is planning further expansion in the country, with additional store openings slated for next year. While the initial focus remains on Metro Manila, the retailer says it is also evaluating opportunities in regional markets.

“This is only the beginning,” said Anil. “With our inaugural store now open at Ayala Malls Manila Bay, we look forward to opening more locations next year to reach more communities and inspire an active, healthy lifestyle across the country.”
