Starbucks Opens Inclusive Store

Located in Seoul, the new store is committed to diversity, equality and inclusion and offers numerous opportunities for employees with disabilities.

Anyone who is passionate about access and disability inclusion is welcome to work at the store. Employees all receive training and development. The store is designed to be a warm and inclusive space that welcomes all people. Employees are equipped with digital tablets to assist in communication with customers and the space has been specially designed to facilitate comfortable access for those guests with wheelchairs, which is a first of its kind for any Starbucks globally.

Other features include contactless speech-to-text voice recognition through a tablet at the register, a braille menu and digital signs.

“Opening a new store focused on inclusive design marks an important moment for Starbucks in South Korea and around the world. We are excited to have this opportunity to bring Starbucks Mission and values to life in our community and expand opportunities for our partners to develop their careers at Starbucks,” commented David Song, Chief Executive Officer at Starbucks Coffee Korea.
