The Odeon, which is the first multiplex in Milan, will no longer be just a cinema but now also a luxury shopping centre.
Dubbed as The Odeon of the Future, the renovation process is expected to be completed in 2024 and, according to the designers, it will be an innovative space, an experiential hub in which the cinema ‘The Space’ will be relocated in the basement and will be defined as the new retail destination of Milan, bringing together 5,000sq m to revolutionise the urban layout of the city centre.
In the Odeon of the Future, entertainment will be amplified with new functions – retail, catering, offices – all in line with the polycentric dimension of the ‘old’ Odeon where theatre, cinema, tea room, brewery, ballroom and restaurant all co-existed.
Renzo Misitano, Executive Director of Real Estate Development, Dea Capital, said: “The aim of the project was to reinvent the existing building by reconciling the architectural constraints with today’s technological needs. We are sure that the final result will be the first to amaze the Milanese who are so fond of this corner of the historic centre.”
