Majestas, the international group founded by entrepreneur Flavio Briatore, has announced the global debut of Lion in the Sun and the highly anticipated return of Billionaire, both slated to open this November at the new Mandarin Oriental Downtown Dubai.
Positioned on the hotel’s top floor, Lion in the Sun launches globally in Dubai as a contemporary “aalotto in the sky”, blending vintage grandeur with soulful conviviality. Designed by Richard Saunders, the restaurant celebrates open-fire cooking, premium ingredients and Mediterranean influences under the direction of culinary director and chef Batuhan Piatti Zeynioglu. The concept draws inspiration from Briatore’s Lion in the Sun retreat in Malindi, Kenya, once a home-away-from-home for Naomi Campbell and a magnet for celebrities, designers and artists. Reimagined for Dubai, it seeks to create a glamorous cultural hub with intimacy and design at its core.
Billionaire, meanwhile, returns with a bolder expression of its international nightlife legacy. Now positioned on the 61st floor, the venue combines fine dining with a world-class immersive show, Up in the Sky, under the artistic direction of Irma di Paola. Blurring the boundaries between stage and audience, the performance merges music, dance, light and movement into a theatrical experience that redefines the brand’s Dubai presence.
“At Majestas, we see our role as creating cultural landmarks. With Lion in the Sun and Billionaire, we are not simply opening venues; we are shaping experiences that will resonate in Dubai and beyond. This city deserves concepts that reflect its global ambition and we are proud to deliver them,” said Flavio Briatore, Founder of Majestas.
