The world-renowned theme park is set to reopen at 75 per cent capacity on 15 June after being closed due to the Covid-19 outbreak in the Chinese capital.
Universal Studios Beijing is reopening on 15 June, while the Universal Studios Grand Hotel, NUO Resort Hotel and Universal CityWalk Beijing are set to welcome guests on 14 June. Universal Beijing has been closed since 1 May. All visitors will need to show proof of a negative coronavirus test within the last 72 hours, the resort said on its official WeChat account.
“Some venues may be temporarily unavailable in the early phase when we resume operations,” Universal Beijing said in a statement on Tuesday, 7 June.
“With the increasing mobility of people and gatherings, the risk of the spread of the virus also increases,” Xu Hejian, a spokesperson for the municipal government, said during a press briefing. “Beijing must not allow any slackening in epidemic prevention and control.”
Earlier this year, Universal Beijing announced a host of new experiences, including a parade based on Tencent’s Honor of Kings video game and Minions-themed rooms at the Universal Studios Grand Hotel. Meanwhile, Universal Beijing is reportedly planning its second phase of construction already, which involves building five additional hotels.
