Mobile World Eyes Indonesia Expansion

The Vietnam retail giant Mobile World has announced plans to open its first Indonesia store this year.

Indonesia will be the second international market for Mobile World, after Cambodia, in which the Vietnam retail giant opened in Phnom Penh in 2017 under the name BigPhone, which was later changed into Bluetronics. At the end of 2021, Mobile World operated more than 50 outlets outside of Vietnam, which generated 0/4 per cent of the company’s overall revenue.

Meanwhile, the company intends to increase its revenue to $6.1bn. Currently, the group’s smartphone and electronics retail chains, Mobile World and Dien Nay Xanh, generate between 75 per cent and 80 per cent of the revenue.

This year, the group has trialled 12 independent retail concept stores including apparel and jewellery categories AvaFashion, AvaSport, and AvaKids, and the bicycle categories AvaCycle. Meanwhile, the brand’s grocery business, Bach Hoa Xanh, is set to focus on improving its operation base and improve its sales before expanding its footprint next year.
