Touchwood shopping centre, the West Midlands’ leading retail and leisure destination, has expanded its offer with the arrival of fast food restaurant Wendy’s.
The US-based chain has taken unit 48A at the scheme on a new 15-year lease, with the restaurant opening earlier this September. The 3,069sq ft restaurant, within Touchwood’s Jubilee Walk dining area, is Wendy’s only location in the West Midlands.
The arrival of Wendy’s further strengthens the range of dining and leisure options available to the scheme’s visitors, joining wagamama, Nando’s and Pizza Express as well as a number of independent restaurants, alongside a Cineworld cinema and competitive socialising operator Spinners.
Touchwood already holds the region’s leading retail line-up, with existing brands at the destination including Apple – which recently more than tripled its presence at the scheme – John Lewis, Mango, Rituals, Tag Heuer, Miele and Oliver Bonas.
Following its acquisition of Touchwood in 2021, owner The Ardent Companies and asset manager Sovereign Centros from CBRE have implemented a strategy focused on diversifying the scheme’s tenant mix and offer, bringing in new retail brands, dining options and leisure operators to expand the visitor base.
Simon Phipps of Sovereign Centros from CBRE, added: “Our approach focuses on bringing the brands and operators to Touchwood that people want to see and Wendy’s certainly comes under that banner. This is a major US brand, choosing Touchwood for its only West Midlands restaurant. We’re excited to see its arrival as part of our wider expansion of the destination’s leisure and dining offer.”
