The American brand Tumi, specialising in high-end luggage, suitcases and travel accessories, has officially opened its first physical store in Peru, marking a new step in its international expansion strategy.
This milestone, announced in late December 2025, marks the brand’s formal entry into the Peruvian market, with a clear commitment to bringing its premium offerings to local consumers who value quality, design and functionality in their travel and lifestyle products.
The new Tumi store is located in the Jockey Plaza shopping centre in the Santiago de Surco district of Lima, an area renowned for its concentration of high-end fashion and lifestyle brands. The store, named Tumi Oakland Place, occupies approximately 54.3sq m and was developed under the “Manifest” visual concept, characterised by a modern, clean and sophisticated aesthetic that aims to provide a premium shopping experience. Inside, visitors can explore iconic collections such as 19 Degree, Alpha and Tumi | McLaren, as well as a wide selection of suitcases, backpacks and travel accessories.
Since its founding in 1975 by Charlie Clifford, Tumi has evolved into a global benchmark for luxury luggage. The brand’s name comes from a Peruvian ceremonial object Clifford encountered during his Peace Corps service in South America, adding a symbolic connection to the region. Originally focused on high-quality suitcases made with durable materials like ballistic nylon and functional designs, the company has solidified its reputation by offering products that combine durability, innovation and understated elegance, explaining its popularity among frequent travellers, professionals and those who appreciate well-executed design.
Globally, Tumi has strengthened its presence with over 120 of its own stores and nearly 200 points of sale worldwide. Furthermore, since 2016, it has been part of the Samsonite portfolio, which has boosted its expansion and distribution capabilities. The opening in Peru is part of a broader trend in international luxury retail to establish a physical presence in emerging markets with growing purchasing power and an increasing interest in premium products linked to lifestyle and travel.
