YoungLa Opens First Store in LA

Founded in 2014 by two Indian-born brothers, Gurmer and Dashmeet Chopra, fitness apparel brand YoungLA has just opened its first store in Los Angeles at Westfield Topanga shopping center.

Before building their fashion brand, the brothers made money online, reselling products on platforms like eBay and Amazon, learning the mechanics of pricing, margins, logistics, and online demand. While experimenting with different categories, they noticed something: men’s fitness apparel was growing fast, but much of it was either overpriced or lacked personality. There was room for a brand that felt aspirational but remained accessible.

The brothers decided to create their own brand, starting with gym shorts offering well-fitted, aesthetically strong athletic wear at a reasonable price point. Rather than investing heavily in traditional advertising, the brand built relationships with fitness influencers and athletes, creating an organic connection with young male audience that wanted to look strong and stylish.

Twelve years after its debut, the brand recorded more than $176 million in revenue in 2024 and continues to strengthen its cultural presence through partnerships with artists such as Yg, Tyga, and Lil Baby, as well as collaborations with Gold’s Gym and Batman.

Gurmer and Dashmeet Chopra: Westfield Topanga felt like the right home for our first flagship store. As one of the top malls in Los Angeles, recently enhanced by a $250 million renovation, it offered the scale and presence we were looking for. Its proximity to our headquarters in Chatsworth made it a natural fit.
