Saudi Arabia Opens New Al-Jouf International Airport

The new Al-Jouf International Airport in Saudi Arabia officially began operations on Wednesday, 25 February, receiving its first flight as part of the complete transfer of operational activities from the old airport to the new facility.

The launch marks a significant expansion in aviation capacity for the Al-Jouf Region, with the new facility designed to meet modern international standards and accommodate growing passenger demand.

The new airport has an estimated annual capacity of 1.6 million passengers, compared to approximately 175,000 at the previous airport, representing growth of more than 800 per cent.

The expansion reflects a major scale-up in infrastructure to support regional connectivity and long-term aviation development.

The passenger terminal has been designed in accordance with the latest international standards and covers a total area of 24,000sq m.
