Hermes Opens New Store

The brand has launched a new unit at The Landmark Nagoya Sakae in Japan, inspired by local culture and textile traditions.

Designed by Parisian architecture agency RDAI, the boutique showcases the house’s sixteen metiers through a mix of light-filled floors with contrasting fabrics and colours.

The facade is framed by double-height windows with moulded glass panels with a curtain made from nearly a thousand hand-woven cotton threads hanging like fibres of a loom. Visible through the glass surfaces are two horses galloping from the reflection. Meanwhile, a stone staircase runs through the centre of the space, connecting the different levels and departments.

The lower level houses menswear, which incorporates pleated grey silk walls inspired by the traditional Japanese hakama. On the second floor, the womenswear area uses plum and blush tones alongside stucco finishes and yuzen-inspired floral elements.

A dedicated jewellery section is defined by purple carpeting, while the top floor is home to the equestrian and home collections. Design elements throughout the level reference traditional shibori dyeing techniques, paired with neutral finishes and a ceiling light feature.

“We invite loyal customers and new visitors to discover the house’s timeless creations in a bold new store shaped by Nagoya’s creative heritage,” said the company.
