The company has unveiled a flagship store in Beijing’s Sanlitun district, adding a new retail destination to the one of the city’s busiest shopping precincts.
Designed by Dutch architecture firm MVRDV, the 4,120sq m store features a facade inspired by traditional Chinese roof tiles, with suspended aluminium panels finished in the retailer’s signature blue. Seven circular openings, modelled on traditional moon gates, serve as display windows and frame the main entrance.
The interior draws on Beijing’s historic hutong neighbourhoods, incorporating grey brick finishes alongside distinct layouts and material palettes across each floor. The flagship also features six themed ‘Bold Rooms’ designed for product displays, seasonal activations and brand collaborations.
“The challenge of this project was to create a space that feels grounded in its surroundings while also reflecting the global aspirations of Urban Revivo,” said MVRDV Founding Partner Jacob van Rijs. “So we used local references, like Beijing’s roof tiles, but combined them with modern techniques to create spaces that evolve with the visitor’s experience, from the colour-changing facade to the smallest design details inside.”
