The company is accelerating its retail expansion, opening no less than four new outposts across California, two in São Paulo and last but not least, in the historic downtown of Copenhagen.
Here, the Swiss brand has secured a 350sq m, two-level space on the premises of a mid-19th century building. The interior design, created by On‘s Zurich-based design team, takes cues from the Danish capital’s character through a contrast of heritage and modernity.
Consequently, red metal cladding are a nod to Denmark’s visual identity and contemporary design language, while an additional material palette of concrete, grey stucco and oak create a clean and understated backdrop. Located on the same street as the landmark Rundetårn, the retail space also draws inspiration from the building’s spiralling ramp.
Taking centre stage on the lofty ground floor is a monumental staircase, dipped in a red hue and which ties in with the flanking support beams. Additional furnishings and fixtures are crafted from stainless steel, including tiered shelving units, clothing racks, displays and a configuration of ceiling lights. The new On store stocks the full range of men’s and women’s running shoes, apparel and accessories.
Additionally, the retail space serves as a central hub for the local On community, offering weekly run clubs and other activities.
