The company is stepping up its presence in Kyoto with the opening of its first global flagship store in the city, as the retailer targets a location with strong domestic and international visitor traffic.
The 3,200sq m Uniqlo Kyoto will open on 6 November, following the full renovation of the retailer’s existing Kawaramachi store, which is currently Uniqlo’s largest outlet in Kyoto.
The four-storey store, comprising three floors above ground and one basement level, will carry the full LifeWear range across men’s, women’s, kids and baby categories.
According to Uniqlo, the new flagship will combine the brand’s LifeWear concept and service offering with elements of Kyoto’s traditions and culture. The retailer also aims to reflect the city’s changing appeal as an international destination.
“We aim to be a store that is loved by our customers for many years to come, by sharing the ever-evolving charm of Kyoto, along with its inherited traditions and culture, from our store to the world,” Uniqlo said in a statement.
