Montblanc Unveils New Boutique At Selfridges London

Montblanc is pleased to announce the opening of a new boutique within Selfridges London. Located within one of British capital’s most iconic department stores, the boutique introduces a contemporary expression of the Montblanc universe, placing writing culture, craftsmanship and the Maison’s distinctive design codes at its heart.

The boutique’s creative direction reimagines the traditional retail environment as a contemporary home of writing. The concept was developed in close partnership with Montblanc Artistic Director Marco Tomasetta, ensuring that both the spirit of the Maison and his creative vision are expressed.  The concept has been thoughtfully adapted for Selfridges, bringing Montblanc’s heritage into dialogue with a department store renowned for its pioneering approach to creativity, design and retail.

Spanning 79 sqm, the new boutique combines refined materials, sculptural forms and subtle references to Montblanc’s most recognisable codes. Upon entering the space, visitors are welcomed into a library concept that creates an inviting space for exploration and engagement.

At the heart of the boutique, Montblanc’s Tree of Writing rises above the space as a celebration of the written word. Crafted entirely from paper, the striking installation brings together memories, stories and written moments from the Maison’s history, transforming them into a sculptural expression of Montblanc’s enduring relationship with writing. The Selfridges boutique is the only Montblanc boutique in the city to feature the Tree of Writing, making it a distinctive focal point within the space. Warm wooden flooring and custom-crafted furniture complete the setting, drawing inspiration from the wooden worktables traditionally used by artisans.

Writing culture is woven throughout the boutique’s design. Ink-inspired patterns and calligraphic details reflect the precision, craftsmanship and culture behind every Montblanc writing instrument. The boutique’s rug mimics the effect of large yellow ink splatters across the floor, in a nod to Selfridges’ vibrant signature colourway, continuing to put writing at the centre of the experience. The Montblanc Desk designed by Marco Tomasetta invites clients to pause, put pen to paper and engage more closely with the ritual of writing. The result is an elegant and tactile environment that moves beyond traditional retail, celebrating creativity, self-expression and the enduring power of the written word.
