Pets at Home today released full-year results for the year to March 28, 2019.
Highlights from the results, which beat expectations, include:
- Group revenue up 6.9% to £961m
- Retail revenue up 6.2% to £854.6m, with L-4-L growth of 5.1%
- Vet Group revenue up 13.1% to £106.4m
- Omnichannel revenues up 43% to £73.5m
The company – which has 452 stores – has now delivered nine consecutive quarters of l-4-l growth in retail. It increased market share in all key categories: food, accessories and veterinary care both online and offline.
The strategy, launched by CEO Peter Pritchard 12 months ago, is to join up pet products and services creating a one-stop-shop for animal lovers.
It groomed almost 840,000 dogs during the year – equivalent to 2,300 per day or 95 an hour. Its VIP Puppy Club now has 230,000 members – about one in five of the UK puppy population. Its VIP Kitten Club has signed up over 40,000 members since it launched in September.
The company opened the first two of its new-format ‘stores of the future’ in Stockport and Chesterfield. They feature:
- Self-wash areas where owners can shower their dogs
- Cat adoption in association with the RSPCA
- Dog training classes
- Children’s Birthday Parties
- which are proving to be a sell-out success!
