The popular music identifying application ‘Shazam’ has inspired a new world of AI-powered technology. The new feature, called simply: StyleSnap will enable customer find clothes. The retail giant has build the tool into the Amazon App.
The announcement was released at the Re:MARS Conference in Las Vegas this week by Jeff Wilke, Amazon CEO Consumer Worldwide. Wilke commented: ‘The simplicity of the customer experience belies the complexity of the technology behind it.’
However Amazon isn’t the first company to introduce photo recognition technology specifically aimed at fashion matching. The fashion retailer ASOS has previously launched Style Match, a visual search tool which similarly requires the user to either take a photo or upload an image from a library to see a list of recommended products.
Looking at social media today, visual search is currently one of the biggest marketing trends of 2019. The world of artificial intelligence and machine learning are both still in their early phases – however they both have the potential to revolutionise how consumers both find and buy products.
