Tesco, which is Britain’s biggest retailer, has stated that it could grow its business in Thailand by opening 750 new convenience stores in the medium term. Currently the group operates a total of 1,583 convenience stores in the Asian country.
The expansion would mean that Tesco would have the ability to dominate on untapped value opportunities. The supermarket has lost some of its spark in the UK, it would appear – the supermarket is now having to compete with other supermarket chains, such as Lidl and Aldi. Therefore the expansion has the possibility to be a move in the right direction.
