The new branch in Longton replaces the old store on The Strand

Discount supermarket Lidl has revealed the opening date for its HUGE new Stoke-on-Trent store. The German retailer will welcome customers to the branch in Trentham Road, Longton, on Thursday (December 6).

It has been built on the former Somerfield site and replaces the old store on The Strand. The ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at 8am and will be attended by pupils from St Gregory’s Catholic Academy. The 1,325 sq metre store – which has created 20 jobs – is the biggest in the city.

It includes a bakery, longer tills with ‘dual packing facilities’, customer toilets with a baby changer and more parking. Shoppers will be offered the chance to sample some of Lidl’s award-winning products throughout the day, along with exclusive deals and offers on selected products for the first week of opening.

Offers include:

  1. A 20V 4-in-1 cordless combination-tool (£29.99, RRP £59.99) from Thursday;
  2. An overlock sewing machine (£79, RRP £119) from Friday;
  3. A blender (£14.99, RRP £24.99) from Saturday
