Accor’s Handwritten Collection of independent hotels has made its debut in Austria with the rebranding of Hotel Rathauspark Wien, previously part of Radisson’s ‘Individuals’ portfolio.

Launched in early 2023, Accor’s collection brand for hotels in the midscale segment has been steadily growing its European footprint, including opening its first German outpost – the 60-room MUZE Hotel Düsseldorf – last November.

The 102-room Hotel Rathauspark Wien – Handwritten Collection is housed within a former 19th-century residence and is centrally located, close to Vienna City Hall and the acclaimed MuseumsQuartier. It includes a 24-hour lobby bar and a fitness centre, and holds the Austrian Ecolabel for high environmental and service standards.

The rebrand under Accor also marks the beginning of a new partnership between the global hospitality group and Austrian hotel operator Verkehrsbuero.

Thiemo Willms, vice president of development DACH at Accor, said: “For several years, we’ve been observing how guests increasingly seek personalised and characterful hotel experiences. At the same time, we continue to see strong momentum for conversion projects and new concepts in prime urban destinations. The opening of Hotel Rathauspark Wien is a perfect example of these two trends converging and highlights the strong appeal of the Handwritten Collection brand for both guests and partners.”

Currently, the Handwritten Collection consists of more than 30 hotels in countries including France, Italy, Romania, The Netherlands, Albania, China and Australia, with an additional 35 properties in development.
