Activate Expands with Maidstone Site

Activate has officially opened its first Kent venue, with eager players wanting to experience the fast-growing immersive gaming attraction.

The opening weekend saw families, friends and groups of colleagues take on Activate’s nine interactive game rooms, which combine technology, teamwork and physical challenges in a series of fast-paced challenges that reward communication, agility and quick thinking.

The Maidstone venue is the seventh Activate to open in the UK and only the second outside London, continuing the rapid expansion of one of the world’s fastest-growing immersive entertainment brands.

One of the venue’s most talked-about features isn’t actually a game at all. Instead of taking the stairs or lift, visitors can choose to slide down to reception via a custom-built indoor slide – a playful touch that reflects Activate’s philosophy that fun should begin the moment guests walk through the door. Activate in Maidstone is also the first Activate to have entry via a slide as an option.

Richard Beese, CEO and Co-Founder of We Do Play, said: “We couldn’t have asked for a better opening weekend. The response from Maidstone has been fantastic and it was brilliant to see hundreds of people coming together to experience Activate for the first time. Everything about Activate is designed to encourage people to play, laugh and challenge themselves together. Even something as simple as giving guests the choice of taking a slide instead of the stairs reflects what we’re all about. Fun doesn’t start when the game begins – it starts the moment you arrive.”
