The Black Sheep Hotels Group has opened the Ambassador Hotel in Inverness following a £6M investment of the former Strathness House Hotel on Ardross Terrace, overlooking the River Ness.
Housed within two Victorian townhouses dating back to 1874, the newly restored Ambassador Hotel is the latest addition to the Black Sheep Hotels Group portfolio and features fourteen individually designed rooms and suites.
Launched on Saturday, it was opened on the same day as Talk of the Town, a new continental and Indian restaurant located within the hotel and The Other Room, a library bar.
The extensive renovation has carefully preserved the building’s architectural heritage, retaining key original features including the external façade and staircases, while reimagining the interiors to offer a blend of antiques, period character and contemporary luxury.
The hotel’s fourteen themed rooms and signature suites are inspired by 19th -century travel and the Scottish landscape, offering guests a distinctive boutique stay in the heart of Inverness.
Talk of the Town is named after a famous Bombay restaurant established in 1968 and brings a Scottish-Indian dining concept to the city. The restaurant is led by Corporate Executive Chef Sinclair Pinto, who has worked in Michelin Star restaurants with world famous chefs, including Angela Hartnett and Helen Darroze.
Located on the banks of the River Ness, the menu blends Scottish classics, continental dishes and Indian specialities, using locally sourced Highland ingredients. Seafood will be supplied by local fishmonger Iain Stewart, with meats sourced from Lochaber Larder.
The restaurant will also feature a curated wine and spirits list from the hotel’s Library Bar, alongside classic and signature cocktails created by Antwerp-based mixologist Paul Morel.
The Ambassador Hotel is centrally located within walking distance of Inverness Castle, St Andrew’s Cathedral and Eden Court Theatre.
