The Apple store, affectionately called The Fruit Stand by its employees, temporarily closed Sept. 2 so that space could be gutted for the rebuild and expansion. The local store had operated since its launch in March 2007, less than four months before the first iPhone was released.
Apple’s new local store will add more than 600 square feet onto the combined spaces of the former Talbots and the original Apple store there. In addition to sheer space, the most noticeable difference will be its new façade.
