The company has opened its largest in-mall store in India in Chennai, with its launch expanding its network in the country to 63.
The German footwear brand is continuing its expansion in India apace, just six years after opening its first store in the country. While it continues to operate its 1,600sq ft Mumbai flagship, the Chennai opening marks the third store in Tamil Nadu’s capital.
“Chennai represents a strategically important market for Birkenstock India, with a growing base of premium consumers and a strong affinity for quality, comfort-driven products,” the company said. “The store showcases Birkenstock’s iconic sandal and clog styles alongside contemporary closed shoes, seasonal designs, accessories and the care essentials range.”
In April, Birkenstock also opened its Japanese flagship store in Osaka. The retailer has previously said that it is actively expanding its direct-to-consumer store footprint globally.
