BJ’s Wholesale Club’s expansion plans for January include the opening of its second smaller-format location.
The membership warehouse club retailer will open its second location under the BJ’s Market banner on Jan, 30, in Delray Beach, Fla. At 55,000 sq. ft., the store is about half the size of a BJ’s club. The smaller footprint is designed to offer a convenient grocery shopping experience featuring essential fresh foods, produce, sundries and seasonal products.
BJ’s first introduced its market concept in Warwick, R.I., in May 2022. Similar to BJ’s traditional club, the smaller-format store offers a variety of pack sizes, including individual salad kits, sliced-to-order deli products and half gallons of milk, along with bulk paper goods and cleaning products, and multipacks of pantry staples. It also curbside pickup, same-day delivery and ExpressPay.
“BJ’s Market offers unbeatable value on groceries combined with a smaller footprint that makes for a quick shopping experience,” said Bill Werner, executive VP, strategy and development, BJ’s Wholesale Club. “BJ’s Market is perfect for families making a weeknight grocery run or a fast weekend trip between games and activities.”
In other January openings, BJ’s will open a location in Chattanooga, Tenn., on Jan. 30. The new club is the company’s sixth location in the state of Tennessee. Earlier this month, BJ’s opened in 11th location in North Carolina, in Selma.
BJ’s closed out 2025 with the opening of three new locations. The retailer opened clubs in Springfield, Mass.; Sumter, S.C.; and Casselberry, Fla. The Springfield club marked BJ’s 26th club in Massachusetts and the first new location in the company’s home state in 13 years.
BJ’s currently operates 261 clubs and 198 BJ’s Gas locations in 21 states. The company is headquartered in Marlborough, Mass.
