A Legacy of Elegance
Bocan Couture was born from a deep passion for celebrating femininity and elegance through meticulously crafted pieces. For this interview, we met with Ayşe Bocan, Founder of the company to discuss the history of the brand, how it has blended tradition with modernity and what its plans are for the future.

After inheriting the savoir-faire and the passion for the finest fabrics from generations of textile traders in her family, Ayşe Bocan proudly continued her family legacy with the founding of Bocan Couture in 2013 alongside her daughters, Ecem and Melike and together they work to inspire women to be feminine and bright in their most blissful and intimate moments.
The vision of the business has always been to create timeless designs that empower women and honour the art of craftsmanship. Over the years they have become a household name and a treasured brand for royals and distinguished women for luxury nightwear and gowns across Europe and the Middle East.
“Our cultural and familial heritage is the cornerstone of Bocan Couture. Growing up in a family deeply immersed in textile traditions, we have always valued the importance of storytelling through design,” comments Founder Ayşe Bocan. “Each collection reflects a harmonious blend of cultural inspiration and modern elegance, which has shaped our unique identity.”
A pivotal milestone for the company has been their partnership and launch into the world-famous Harrods department store in London, UK. It has allowed them to bring their vision of timeless elegance to a global audience and connect with women who appreciate refined craftsmanship. Harrods, with their embodiment of luxury and heritage, align perfectly with the brand values and mission of the business.

“Being present at Harrods elevates our visibility on an international scale. It not only solidifies our position as a luxury brand but also opens doors to new markets and opportunities for growth. It is a testament to our dedication to quality and design.”
The collection available at Harrods features exclusive pieces designed specifically for this partnership. Ayşe explains to us that these designs will highlight their signature craftsmanship and sustainability, offering clients a truly unique Bocan experience.
Within the store, they have ensured that every detail reflects the brand ethos. From personalised fittings to bespoke options, customers will have access to a tailored shopping experience that celebrates their individuality.

Away from their presence in Harrods, their Marylebone flagship site has been instrumental in helping them understand the preferences of their international clientele. It has allowed them to refine the customer experience and create a boutique environment that feels personal and luxurious. It is this foundation that prepared them to meet the expectations of Harrods’ discerning customers.
In addition to its presence in the UK, the business is present in the Middle East, Europe and select regions in Asia and moving forward they will continue expanding to bring their collections to more women worldwide.
“We are exploring new markets in North America and Asia while also working on collaborations with like-minded designers who share our values of sustainability and craftsmanship.”
Our cultural and familial heritage is the cornerstone of Bocan Couture. Growing up in a family deeply immersed in textile traditions, we have always valued the importance of storytelling through design.”
As our conversation moves onto the topics of philosophy and sustainability, Ayşe comments that the business focuses on creating designs that transcend while incorporating subtle modern elements. By honouring traditional craftsmanship and combining it with innovative techniques, they achieve a balance that feels both timeless and relevant.
It is this philosophy that sets Bocan apart, this unwavering dedication to quality, craftsmanship and storytelling. Each piece in their collection is designed to be an heirloom, timeless in its aesthetic and meaningful in its creation.

“In terms of sustainability, this theme guides every decision we make, from sourcing eco-friendly materials like vegan silk to minimising waste in our production processes. We are committed to ethical craftsmanship that respects both people and the planet.”
Known for its personalised approach to customer service, it all begins with them listening to their clients and understanding their preferences. From bespoke designs to curated fittings, they strive to create a meaningful connection with every customer, ensuring their experience is as memorable as the garments they choose.
One of the company’s slogans, ‘made by women, for women’, helps to influence the Bocan team dynamic and is at the heart of everything the company does. It fosters a collaborative and supportive environment within the team and assists them in helping create designs that resonate with women. One of their goals is to empower every woman, whether she is part of their team or wearing their creations.

“We hope Bocan inspires women to feel confident and embrace their individuality. Our designs are meant to celebrate their strength and elegance, serving as a reminder of their worth and potential,” the founder emphasises.
Since its launch 12 years ago, some of the company’s most rewarding moments include opening their flagship store in Marylebone, collaborating with talented artisans and now featuring at Harrods. Each milestone is a reflection of the hard work and dedication of the team.
“In the next five to ten years, we envision Bocan as a global leader in luxury sleepwear, celebrated for its timeless designs and sustainable practices. We will maintain our unique identity by staying true to our values and continuing to innovate while honouring our heritage,” Ayşe concludes.
