Café Amazon Plans Vietnam Expansion

Thailand’s leading coffee chain, Café Amazon, intends to expand their offering in Vietnam after five months of establishment in the country.

Thailand’s Central Group owns a 40 per cent stake of Café Amazon Vietnam, and a spokesperson recently commented that the chain sees great potential for long-term growth in the Vietnamese market with key markets of interest including Ho Chi Minh City and its neighbouring provinces.

The first Café Amazon outlet opened in southern Ben Tre Province last October, this was followed by two outlets in Tien Giang Province and Tra Vinh Province in December. Each of these cafes are located within Go! Supermarkets, which are operated by Thai giant, Central Retail. Another outlet was opened in HCMC in December of last year.

The Vietnamese market has a number of long-established domestic players including Highlands, Phuc Long, The Coffee House and Trung Nguyen, which will be tough competition for Café Amazon.
