Merry Hill has announced the opening of Carnival Golf & Games, in a 23,700 sq ft unit at the top 10 UK super regional centre, another major milestone as the destination builds on a standout year of leasing success.
Operated by leading UK family entertainment brand Funstation, Carnival Golf & Games joins
Merry Hill with more than 20 years of success for the brand across the UK. The dynamic competitive leisure concept features two themed mini golf courses alongside a compelling mix of immersive video and carnival gaming, VR experiences, and Breakout Escape Rooms and Laser Station-Laser Tag – delivering a multi-generational, experience-led offer that reflects evolving consumer demand.
The opening completes the transformation of the former Debenhams unit, creating a powerful trio of anchor occupiers at Merry Hill. Carnival Golf & Games sits alongside national debut units for Harvey Norman and fitness operator XF Gym, underlining the centre’s desirability for best-in-class operators from across the world.
2025 was a landmark year for leisure at Merry Hill, with the award-winning leisure quarter now fully let following the arrival of a diverse mix of F&B brands including Burger & Sauce, Heavenly Desserts, and Toledo Lounge. The arrivals reflect sustained demand from operators seeking prominent, high performing locations, and demonstrate the centre’s evolution into a well-rounded destination that extends beyond just retail.
James Miller, CEO at Funstation, added: ““With 14 thriving locations across the UK, our new Merry Hill venue represents our largest and most ambitious project yet. We’re pulling out all the stops to create an unforgettable experience combining the best of our brands and activities, and are excited to anchor the leisure offer. Merry Hill’s scale, energy, and incredible catchment made it the perfect choice for our next level venue.” The opening of Carnival Golf & Games follows the recent news that Superdrug, the renowned British health and beauty retailer, will significantly upsize its store at the centre, doubling its footprint to 16,000 sq ft, making it one of the brand’s largest stores in the UK
