Carrefour is targeting shoppers looking for a more premium grocery experience with the launch of its first next-generation supermarket in the UAE, complete with a neighbourhood café, expanded fresh food offering and hundreds of imported products.
Majid Al Futtaim, which holds the exclusive rights to operate Carrefour in the UAE, has opened the new concept store at Jumeirah Park Centre, marking the first step in a broader transformation strategy that will see the format rolled out to additional locations during 2026.
The 2,200sq m supermarket has been designed to reflect changing consumer habits, with a greater emphasis on fresh food, convenience and premium products.
Fresh and ready-made food now accounts for 38 per cent of the selling space, up from 25 per cent in a traditional Carrefour Market, highlighting growing demand for meal solutions and healthier shopping options. One of the new features is Carrefour’s first BakeHouse Café, a new neighbourhood café concept serving freshly baked pastries, specialty coffee and casual dining.
The retailer hopes the café will encourage customers to spend more time in-store while positioning the supermarket as a community hub rather than simply a place to buy groceries.
The new format also introduces more than 900 additional products, including over 300 imported food lines, alongside an expanded Fresh Market, an upgraded health and beauty department featuring dedicated K-Beauty sections, a larger pet care range and a new Food-for-Now deli aimed at customers looking for ready-to-eat meals.
