RLI Publisher Jayne Rafter joined team Unicef, skippered by Ian Wiggin, as they set sail on the first leg of The Clipper 2019-2020 Round The World Yacht Race in aid of Unicef, the world’s leading children’s organisation.

Sunday 1 September gave each team an opportunity to step into the limelight, parading through the on-looking crowds and onto the Clipper Race stage to their chosen team song, before saying their final farewells to family and friends as emotions ran high.

Setting off early on Monday, the team began Leg One, The Atlantic Trade Winds Leg from London to Punta del Este in Uruguay. This first leg of the 40,000 race is a gruelling 7,250 nautical mile first trip across the Atlantic Ocean via a pit stop in Portimão, Portugal.
