CPRL Unveils Major Expansion Plans for McDonald’s in India

Connaught Plaza Restaurants (CPRL), the master franchisee for McDonald’s in North and East India, will invest $150 million by 2028 to double its outlets to 600 by 2030.

A part of the $1.2 billion MMG Group, CPRL aims to reach 300 outlets from the current 245 stores by the end of this year, targeting both established urban hubs like Delhi NCR, Punjab, and Uttar Pradesh, and expanding into Tier III cities such as Gangtok, Siliguri, and Guwahati.

“We have opened a few new stores in new states and cities like Gangtok (Sikkim), Siliguri (West Bengal), and Guwahati (Assam),” Anant Agarwal, vice-chairman of MMG Group and CPRL, told Verdict Food Service, a GlobalData-owned brand. “We see these regions as very promising.”

The company is also rolling out compact store formats tailored to smaller regions and plans to modernise its existing outlets under McDonald’s “Experience of the Future” (EOTF) initiative.

The announcement comes shortly after McDonald’s renewed its 20-year master franchise agreement in the Philippines earlier this month, extending its partnership with Golden Arches Development Corporation (GADC) until 2045.
