Lifestyle International, operator of the chain of Sogo department stores is scheduled to close Sogo Tsim Sha Tsui later this quarter after 18 years of operation.
Sources in the area have suggested that the unit will close on 12 March which is when its lease expires. This announcement follows the Japanese-style department stores closing clearance which will end in one week and currently offers shoppers 50 per cent discounts on a range of goods across the beauty, fashion, health and food sectors.
Even the return of Mainland customers is not enough for Lifestyle International to feel there will be a significant boost to the industry in Hong Kong in the short term.
