The project offers a selection of Diesel denim, with each piece regenerated, refurbished and made available in selected Italian and online stores across Europe.
Second Hand is a positive step forward for Diesel’s customers to actively participate in the ‘For Responsible Living’ sustainability strategy, which helps keep Diesel products alive for many years to come. The Second Hand project entered the trial phase during the summer of 2021, with select single-brand stores in Italy offering buy-back programmes. Currently, 900 pairs of denim have been collected and regenerated in a second life.
Each regenerated garment will be embossed with a red logo on the back of the garment. Analysis shows that nearly 4,000 litres of water can be used to make a single denim item. On contrast to this, Second Hand carefully regenerates pieces in specialised denim facilities that are located close to Diesel’s headquarters. These items are then washed once to be sanitised.
Diesel’s Second Hand garments are now available for purchase in three selected stores in Italy, in Milan, Florence and Rome, and online on the e-shop in the Europa brand.
